Waux and our Hungarian DAC'ers, are you OK?

Riots over there, seems your government lied
Quote:
In excerpts broadcast on state radio, Mr Gyurcsany candidly admitted his government had accomplished "nothing" and had been lying for "the last year and a half to two years".

to you and made the mistake of admitting it.

Ooops...

What's the scoop?

Oh, yes, thanks for asking, I'm absolutely fine.
The atmosphere is indeed revolutionary over here. I heard that recording (he said stuff like 'We fucked up. ' and 'It was painfully obvious that the things we were saying were not true.' and 'My mother asked me: son, did you fix health care? Mama, did we hell.') but he won't resign.

Of course, he was unaware of the fact that all this was being recorded. He was (or at least he thought he was) amongst his trustworthy colleagues.

I will keep You informed, though' BBC and CNN are just as effective - apparently, we are quite the news currently.

Here's the official translation of what Gyurcsány said:

"There is not much choice. There is not, because we screwed up. Not a little, a lot. No European country has done something as boneheaded as we have. Evidently, we lied throughout the last year-and-a-half, two years. It was totally clear that what we are saying is not true. You cannot quote any significant government measure we can be proud of, other than at the end we managed to bring the government back from the brink. Nothing. If we have to give account to the country about what we did for four years, then what do we say?"

Plus, the timing is very unfortunate as well - October sees the 50th anniversary of the revolution of '56, so the atmosphere is really revolutionary. Young snots who were not even born when '56 happened are making statements like 'for the fiftieth anniversary, we need a new revolution!' and 'down with Trianon!' (what's Trianon gotta do with this is more than what I can see).

Yes, I heard it on BBC radio 4 a few days ago (though at 7am there were a few 'beeps'...

Good luck with all that, Waux...

The worst part is that I have two family members who are actually involved with the Hungarian Socialist Party. But - fortunately... - these tough eggs only want the head of the PM.

Look out for CNN. Gyurcsány (the pm) was interviewed. I don't know when they broadcast it, but i think it's worth watching it...
