I rememebr the band "Yes" used to use that as their intro music and the first time I heard it in a non-Yes situation I was thinking "Who's this Stravinsky person doing cover versions of Yes songs."

They still do.
Every time I listen to this I'm somewhat disappointed at the end when the stage lights fail to come up and reveal my favorite band.
sigh ...

I think it's a good thing.
While I'd never win playing 'Name That Tune', it's nice to know I'll always be able to find something for my listening pleasure when stuck in traffic, reading in the hammock or taking a bubble bath.
quite nice

I think this thread should be moved to the Music forum.

Ice Cream Man - Tom Waits
Imagine - no, not John Lennon, but the Harlem Gospel Singers.

By a curious coincidence, I am listening to the album with that on (Closing Time) but haven't reached that track yet.

I've got that album as well!
Anyway, that's still a coincidence, with the improbability of...?

I used to be a big Yes fan. I've got the original album of Yessongs with all the foldy-out bits and used to be ale to draw the Yes logo really well (and drew it on desks, walls, anything at school, much to the annoyance of teachers) but I lost interest sometime around when they all made solo albums (75/76 ish).
Curiously enough I heard part of Olias of Sunhillow playing as background in a restaurant a few days back and wanted to play it when I got home but found my record player's stylus is bust.
Must buy it on CD

Olias of Sunhillow is the reason I asked the moongod to dig out the old turntable ... unfortunately, it's in no condition to play anything, so I've just ordered the cd from Amazon.

Gosh, that's creepy, so did I!

Amazon's little buying analysis programs must go bananas when two people buy the same obscure disc on opposite sides of the Atlantic in a short space of time.

I like them both.
I also love the oriental sounding instrumental verson at the end of Solitude Standing.

/cues it up to play next on iTunes which is currently playing my favourite Elton John song, Tiny Dancer

Indeed, In my car I have an MP3 capable CD player, a 6 disc changer and sometimes have the 'Pod plugged in too.
Punch a few buttons and you've got a random selection to last from here to Timbuktu.

The Grim Reaper's greatest hits

This is a '70s bootleg LP which I copied to MP3 a while back. Contains all the really sad weepy songs where somebody dies:
Leader of the Pack
Johnny, Remember Me
Dead Man's Curve
Honey, I miss you
etc...

It's so bad, its good.
