okay, this is going to be a silly thread, a thread about food, or, to be precise, honey.

i was just thinking how lovely honey is, having put some on the foamy milk toppinf of my latte. and i wondered: what kind of honey do you guys usually get? are bee keepers common around your place, or are you dependent on buying the stuff at your supermarket? which flavour do you prefer, and do you prefer the liquid version or the more solid texture?

I prefer it more solid. The honey, too.

Every year my parents provide me with a big jar of rather liquid honey from a small place near Freiburg. Lasts for close to a year, so I don't have to buy anything else. Good stuff!

Since my mom is such a huge fan of honey, I tend to bring home a wee jar of exotic honey from each of my travels. All kinds of flavours and consistencies.

I used to be a big fan of the honey sticks (sort of a sealed straw with honey in it) when I was growing up. They were a quarter. I stopped being a fan when they went up to fifty cents.

i am lucky in so far as that my father gives me jars of honey, made by the bees of a friend. this is the solid stuff, good for putting in tea and on bread. when i want to sweeten desserts, i use liquid honey i bought at the store, usually cheaper stuff.

bringing you mother exotic types of honey is a pretty cool gift idea, stej, considering that it really is a simple yet very special kind of food...

I love honey, I have a rich tasting Australian liquid honey on my breakfast cereal most mornings and in the summer try to get some local honey because it helps with hay fever.
