Horrible. Just horrible. I have to wait for the DVD to watch it again and see if it deserves a place of honor in the So-Bad-It's-Good Hall of Fame. It's a shame, because the trailer was promising and I was hoping M. Night Shyamalan might finally regain some of the acclaim he's been dwindling and coasting along ever since the Sixth Sense. All I can say now is that if anyone ever gives that guy more than a pack of gum and their pocket change to direct a movie this ego-turd writes himself, I'm declaring war on whatever studio they work for. That's four massive clunkers in a row for this guy, possibly more depending on your view of Signs and Unbreakable. And for the record, I've never seen the TV show that the film is based on, so I'm not venting some disappointed fangurl rage here. The movie stands alone and plain bad.

I think Unbreakable was his best effort, and that Signs was good, but just pretty ok in hindsight. The Village was the first of the true stinkbombs. I watched The Lady In the Water and liked it a bit more than the Village, but overall, not impressed. I have had no desire to watch anything else from him since, and am still reeling that people keep letting him make movies. They must still come in making a bit of profit based on the fact that he made The Sixth Sense. Hopefully everyone will wise up and no longer go see or rent his movies. I know I've stopped. But as long as they keep making money, Hollyrood will keep having him crank out this steaming piles of movies.

And at least the movies titles are starting to get closer to what they are. When I first heard the name of this film/tv series, I thought it was about farts.

I think his biggest problem is his ego. Overall, he's a good director. The Village and The Lady in the Water were beautiful films visually. The scripts just stank. He can't admit to himself that he's complete shite as a screenwriter. Or, as he would have it himself, "my tastes have become rarified." No, dude. Your movies have become crap.

i´ve only seen three or so episodes of the tv show (when i was on sick leave at home, it´s aired on weekday afternoons, not at home normally) and i felt it was a pretty good thing, imaginative premise, interesting characters, drama mixed with humour... so i would be sad to see it ruined on the big screen. but i wasn´t very keen on watching it anway - give me traditional animation any day, but a "real" version? not necessary.

Definitely skip the movie and watch the series. It starts off slightly shaky, but quickly turns into a very nicely told story. Humor, character development, a bad guy that can shoot fire out of his forehead, it has a little bit of everything.

that´s what i thought, even after watching just those three eps. liked the drawings/costumes/scenery, too. the fluffy flying animal is fun, too.

I'm a very big fan of the TV show, so it was hard watching the movie making something so interesting become so boring. The movie had some great visuals, costumes and scenery, but M Knight should not have written it. Directed, maybe (the acting was bad, but other directory things seemed fine) if they do make book 2 and 3, I would not be surprized if they asked him not to direct it.

I'd say it was like the HHG movie, in that if bits piqued your interested at all, you would be heavily recommended to seek out the original, which was better in pretty much every way.
