Great info, Gusty!
see, I had a feeling it might be some rare Rover or something like that. I saw a rover resembling this one once a long time ago. But now I know yet another fine make, Bristol. I shall incorporate it with my rainy day odd knowledge base off rare items!
Actually I will make it one of my 3D projects. A Bristol 410. This will be good for my portfolio.

And it's completely british outside my windows. Meaning it's raining something almost unbelievable.
Well, I shall be going by bus anyway, so the good old umbrella of a unfoldable textile heep will serve its purpose thusly keeping the here undersigned almost dry.
Sort of.

Now, off to the course for unemployed persons et al.

Peace
Skei (the Bristol 410 seer one)

Oh, the 410 is a pretty dull shape. If you want a challenge, try a 403 which has more compound curves than you could ever want

Image

or for something more modern try the Bristol Fighter

Yeah, that's a challenge...
The part with the arc going from the front on to the doors, that should be interesting. And the bits around the lights.
But apart from that, what a beauty! I like old aeroplanes, and this one, like an old saab, really points out the heritage, planes and cars mix well, I believe.
All in all, lots of good ideas for the projects in the future.
These cars go well together with golf equipment, tennis stuff, mansions, boats, cricket bats, that sort of leisurely strollabout items, and antique coffee machines. Lots of superb pictures flow by my inner eye, the one where all those masterpieces become reality, and reality less harsh.

Now, Java.
Peace
Skei (the time again one)

Actually, I've been looking around, and found the blueprints for the Bristol 400. Unable to find the 403 though, they seem very much alike, so I'll just go for the 400 for now. I have photo from side and front for the 403, and that might do, they're not the same scale though, so that might be a problem, but it'll sort itself out somehow. As long as there's enough coffee it should be ok!
Peace

Hitchhikers vs Strategists

Quiz show presented by Victoria Coren in which knowledge will only take you so far, as patience and lateral thinking are also vital.
In the second semi-final, three fans of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy lock horns with the cunning of the Strategists, a team bound by their love of obscure European board games.
They'll compete to draw together the connections between elements which at first glance seem utterly random.

Sounds like something I'd have enjoyed muchly. Your description there towards the end of your rambling lets on the possibility of the whole thing even being slightly influenced by a certain detective, a man to whom 'random' is certainly more than the mere state of mind...

same as in the above.
Rome. Twice.
Gah.
Lots of good 3d stuff in Rome.
Most of it created in 3d apps.
Working on cobbled street and paving myself.
Perfect background.

Well, there are a few things I'd like to see. 'Lewis', I enjoy it, 'Morse' was better, thanks to John Thaw, but it's ok, or some movie about a disturbed college dude, 'Donnie Darko', I saw it a long time ago, so so. Or some afv episodes and some movie after that, or some sci-fi stuff - stargate universe etc - and some movie after that, or just go on reading 'post office', I just read 'Ham on rye' and enjoyed it very much, got through half 'post office' now, very good thus far. Bukowski is - in my opinion - very underrated. Skip the episodes strictly focussing on heavy drinking, or rather - don't skip them, but simply just don't judge the rest of his work based on that - and there's a guy who had remarkable word-mastery. I certainly love his ability to in a Hemingwayesque manner catch a scene and paint taste and smell and feeling in one well formulated sentence. His play with the classics make clear he knew the trade by heart and sculpted a niche in his own nook at the outskirts of beat. He did it well, too. His background, his drinking, his heritage; all this is inevitably and forcefully part of what he created, so even if I could NEVER learn to appreciate the drinking habits and his view to women, his sincerity and direct, down to earth approach to the situation of the underdog (which is a group I feel very much connected to due to unemployment, divorce etc) offers so much pure pleasure to try to get close to when reading it, he is definitely 'Buk' to me...

Peace

No, I know what I'll see tonight on tv: 'Ali', I haven't seen it, and it should be good, Will Smith is always good, and I saw a boxing movie last night too; Cinderella man, Russel Crowe. That one was very good, and with my background in boxing, I think it's interesting to see. Also it has the 'underdog' perspective, see the above post.

Peace
Skei (the will now see 'afv', love it, especially the dog parts one)

Hercule Poirot.
Excellent man, mr Suchet, excellent.
I love the settings, the architecture, the cars, the ah, I don't know, the escape from blunt reality, I suppose.
Excellent.

'You, the living'. Roy Anderson is definitely my favorite swedish director. His scenes are always dreamlike, like waking up early in summer, going outside, chilly, a morning mist, the world seems almost distant, fictive, yet familiar.
This will be a treat.

'Novecento' (1900 in Sweden).
Just past midnight I'll settle for some 4 hours of epic (if all the people I've heard praising it are right) movie.
De Niro in his prime, not by any means implying he's bad now, but back then he was probably a bit more 'hungry' - eager, if you will, like the young Dylan of the sixties, or the wild Elvis of the fifties (some say he was always too nice, Elvis I mean - but he had glow in his voice, which later disappeared). The contrasting two protagonists, rich/poor, and the setting from ww1 onwards with the rise of fascism in the thirties has many interesting points of view, and I hope the set did some digging into the deeper realms of human psyche. My sincere hope is that it's not a typical, shallow hollywood production style thing, which works ok at times, but this one should be really penetrating, profound, interestingly rare in its relatedness to the singularity of twists and turns of fate.
Peace

Tonight it's the second installment of 'Novecento'. Midnight to about 3.30 am. What a masterpiece, and such characters. Bertolucci. I believe that's the name of the director, I'm no namedropper but think I saw it in the credits.
Well, extremely well done, anyway, I'll do my utmost to stay awake to see the last part, even if it's a bit of a hell to stay up to almost 4 in the morning.

Peace

'Junebug'. At ten on channel one.
If I get to actually watch tv tonight, that's what I'll see. I haven't been able to tear myself away from blender these last few days, so I doubt I'll see it. But IF I get to see it I believe I'll like it. Grown up, troublesome relations, in-laws, whatnots of existence as such and these odd connections mammal to mammal that we humans take so much pride in cultivating. When in reality we are not much more than glimpses of hope, rays of doubt, troubled approaches, discarded shoes on the gigantic scrapheap which is our tiny blue marble in an eternal nothingness labeled 'universe'...

Peace

A most wonderful film. 'Grey Gardens'. About destiny, dysfunctional family, so sad and at the same time, if anyone can survive that, anything is possible. Grey Gardens.
Mmm.

Watching Barton Fink again on IFC. Great film. Ha, I'd forgotten that Tony Shalub was in this.....

'Anita O'Day - Jazzsinger' On channel two at eight. I'll even sacrifice a rerun of 'Morse' to enjoy this one.
She was a voice standing out from others. What a sense of time and articulation.
Really gonna love this one.

Paris nous appartient, cult from the sixties, -61 if I'm not mistaken. Another one in my taste that I totally missed out on even if it's been around almost 50 years. Got great reviews, Lynch is mentioned as a modern day equivalent. I love Lynch, so...

'Finding Neverland' at 8 on channel 4+.
This is a fairytale or -ishly story, dealing with the real J.M. Barrie, it has got great reviews, and I believe Johnny Depp is Barrie. He's one of my fav actors of the younger generation, so I'll enjoy it unless I get stuck playing guitar...

agenda special on channel one. Discussions on the subject of forming a government with the trouble added by the extremist party getting in and being the seats that might cause trouble in every decision. Now the Alliance has to get support from one of the opposition parties on each issue they try to make law. Tough indeed.
Interesting.

i thought it was a good movie. wasn´t a good time to watch for me though, since it was close after my mother´s death and it deals essentially with a mother dying. but i liked it anway.

Yeah, it is a good movie. Sad circumstances for you, really, I feel for you. I enjoyed it very much though, good artistic and poetic value, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

A super reel with freeman & nicholson, 'bucket list' I think it's called. Two guys with terminal cancer decide to run wild. They have a great time, and do all those things.
Worth the time, many times over. :tea:

Two greats, reruns, of course (they all are). 'The terminal'. stuck on jfk airport, waiting for war to end, getting benny Golsons autograph for the deceased father. Great. Then 'Full metal jacket'. Good one on the bad side of life. War. I wonder if training really is that tough for the marines. I'd last some 5 minutes...

All in all a good evening on the telly.

Gladiator, again.
Boring, some may think. Ok, I saw it several times, but some movies are so good I can stand seeing them many times. there is a limit, of course, but for this one it is not here as of yet.
Gah.

Just yesterday I saw a great one on 'Camus', the writer/philosopher. A real piece of art. Superwell done. Taking into account his running around with different women, his tbc, his continued smoking, even though he had this dreadful illness.
Also discussing, albeit kind of superficially so, the fight between him and Sartre. On the right/left issue. I just can't come to terms with people not accepting others because they're not this or that.
A bit like my hometown. If you're not red, you're practically dead. Well, anyway, interesting to see a film presenting the issue, to see that other people too have wandered through this wasteland.
Peace
Yup.

'Cabaret'.
Must be one of the best movies ever.
Magic and raw history mixed.
Liza Minelli is marvelous.
Rest of the cast is really good too, but she's a star!

It's Monk Night!

Every Friday, we have a special dinner together and watch two episodes of Monk. It's been a little less special since they started airing Monk every day now, but, hey, Monk night!
