Thursday March 11th, 2010. Marcus du Sautoy, the mathematian, talking about 42. See you there.

Looks like a hoopy frood!

Marked on my calendar, hopefully I'll be able to make this one. Thanks, Dave!

A great choice for next year. I'm really excited about it.

Well thurr ya go!

Ahhh, Riemann zeta, my favorite function!

I've watched du Sautoy's series "The Story of Maths" over the recent weeks, very fascinating. Fourth and final episode will be shown this Saturday at 19:30 on BBC4, discussing among other things the famous Riemann theorem.

I was being facetious about my fandom of the Riemann zeta function as well, mg. I had to cut and paste the name, because otherwise I would have forgotten it between reading it and writing it down.

As I have forgotten, alas, most of my maths. If I have a question, however, it's obvious Stej is the person to go to...

I said that I watched the series. I can't say that I understood every part of it... :???:

Poopshit. Vagababy will be on her spring break from boarding school and we will be in Florida at the big horse show the whole time.
One day I WILL attend. Since my birthday is March 15 I would insist on a DAC birthday party fitted in around the lecture.

As March is marching closer towards us, so does planning for the event. I'll be in London from Thursday until Sunday (March 11-14).

I noticed that during that time an interesting piece of theatre, Six Degrees of Separation with the fabulous Anthony Head, is shown at The Old Vic. Anyone interested in going to see the play on Friday or Saturday? Tickets might sell out quickly so I ask a wee bit ahead...

I am planning to take the Thursday and Friday off, so was thinking of being in London all day on the Thursday and meeting up with any DACers in town for the evening's event. Friday I might come into London again or maybe run a tour of Cambridge for those that are interested.

Cambridge tour on Friday sounds spiffing!

If I have an even remotely plausible chance, I'll try and make this one.

Alright, I'm going to see the play on Saturday (March 13) at 19:30. If you'd like to join, please let me know until next Monday when I'll buy the ticket (£47.00).

Thursday is approaching fast and furious. So who's going to be when where? Talk starts at 19:30, doors open at 18:30. Shall we meet at the Hoop & Toy, like we did prior to the Last Chance To See event?

Stefan! Yep, sounds like a plan to me. Ed is coming with me again this year, and we aim to get to the H & T about 6-ish. See you there!
:)

Hoop & Toy at 6 it is!

DaveH has offered a tour of Cambridge on Friday, is anybody up for that? If it's just me then I wouldn't like to bother Dave and delay the beauty of Cambridge until another visit, preferably when it's warmer outside!

I've never been on the tour, but I'm afraid I can't afford the time for an all-dayer right now. I'm around most evenings if you're free.

Stefan - it was a pleasure - despite the rain and hail. Pity the Beehive was closed.

James - let me know when you want to come.
