A half hour Radio 4 programme called Shelved is being broadcast at 10:30am on Saturday 12th December. The one line description in the schedule says, "How the politics of the late 1970s affected the most popular TV series' of the time."

One of the three programmes being discussed is the Douglas Adams scripted Dr Who story Shada which was affected by strike action after the location filming in Cambridge. Tom Baker, Pennant Roberts and Jeremy Bentham have been interviewed for the programme.

Details: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00p7g8b

By the way there is a ZZ9 event in Cambrigde on Saturday 5th (tomorrow as I write this). Meet at 1pm at the station - all welcome. I can show you where the TARDIS landed for Shada - handily in an alley between two pubs.

if you haven´t done it yet: listen to the big finish version (audio) with the eighth doctor. it´s excellent, and you get to enjoy DNA´s wonderfully loopy script!

There will probably be another ZZ9 event in Cambridge in the summer. I will try and remember to give more notice of that one.

I second this motion! DaveH, Mrs. DaveH and Gwen hosted me in January. It was wonderful.

I second that recommendation. Big Finish did DNA proud.

I'm sure someone said there would be a bunch of silly punts.

It was an okay sort of programme, but the official historian of the BBC seems to think there were darker reasons behind its axeing than just the usual labour disputes. All I can say is there was a lot of it about at the time.

It's still availabloe for a week or so via the BBC's Listen Again i-Player.

Punting and pubbing, I'm sure!
