On monday, the weekly concert at the jazz club, one of the best bop-based quartets in sweden right now, Fredrik Lindborg. They are super jazzers, all of them throwing in solos and stuff, and fredriks sax leaves very little to be missed...

Peace

My good Reginald. This was so amazing I can't find words strong enough to describe it. Oh, Reginald, how great can a band be? And Gustav, on guitar. So far out it's beyond human grasp. http://www.gustavlundgren.com/ is a link to his page, with some music clips and vids. He played the guitar he uses in the stockholm all stars video, might be a Gibson L-30 or something. No cutaway, biiigg, beautiful warm tone. So damn good I almost decided to burn my guitars and focus on a stamp collection instead...

I went to see Sir Paul McCartney last night and he rocked da house! Last time I've watched him live was in 1986 and the magic is still there. His band is awesome. I'm a huge fan of drummer Abe Laboriel Jr., he's a beast! Although a shrunken beast, he must have lost 50 pounds since I last saw him ;-) Music-wise it was a rather heavy set which suited the band quite nicely and featured a lot of my favourite tunes. The only problem was that they seemed to have adjusted the audio levels to Yesterday or Blackbird. So when all hell broke lose on the rock songs, the noise level was painfully high. Live And Let Die was never more lethal! All in all, a great concert. The man still got it. Chances are that this was the last concert of Paul in Cologne, but tomorrow never knows...

British blues guitarist number ONE. I saw him play his last gig with Fleetwood Mac y'know. He has a tone that most blues guitarists would sell their souls for.

And I've just bought two tickets to see this legend at The St Davids Hall in Cardiff on the 16th of May!

What a great guy Ray Davies is. He played an absolutely spell binding gig, the first half acoustic with another guitarist and the second half with a band. He played for nearly two hours and was on top form, when he came on he said he was in a very good mood and within minutes we were all up there with him. That was the best gig I've been to in a long long time.

Yesterday Mr Adams performed in my home town Tampere in Finland. Bryan Adams, that is. He had a stadium gig only 20 minutes walk from my home, so the Ladies of the house decided we were going. It was fun, even it was raining most of the time. Adams told the audience he had planned the weather so it would feel like Canada. Very professional 2 hour gig, better than I expected. Nothing extraordinary, but the man seemed very nice, played all his hits and the band was good. Left a very good feeling, actually.

When the band left the stage and audience started to leave, they put on Monty Python's Always look on the bright side of life. I'm not sure if that was a good idea from them: That was the tune playing in my head walking home, not Summer of 69.

Next week AC/DC plays at the same stadium. We will be there too... and the summer budget will be in bad shape already.

Yes and Peter Frampton will be giving a free outdoor concert within walking distance of our home for the Fourth of July. I could have them all 'round for tea after the show ... but I suspect they'll be headed over to Peter's place.
Can't wait!

Could pop over and come along if someone would show me the way.
Mind you, I'd have to find some other things to do rather than just going for the one.

Well, a seasoned witch could call you from the depths of your disgrace and rearrange your liver to the solid mental grace ... ... ... Nope. Doesn't make any sense here either. I so suck at this sort of thing.

Roger Waters, The Wall Live, next June in Manchester (looks like the last night of the tour, wonder if anybody special will turn up...?)

Got advance tickets, so got a good seat very near to the front.

Whoo-hoo!

Legendary blues guitarist John Hammond! Had me immediately thinking about a couple guys on this forum. I wonder why...

I'm going to see Sting in Edinburgh on 9th October but having just heard some of the "orchestral" versions of his/Police songs, I'm not sure about it now.

Tomorrow night's Prom, with an all Russian programme. The highlight for me promises to be this young lady, um, fingering her way through Shostakovich's First Violin Concerto.

Not a concert, per se ... but saw Lily Tomlin this evening and I must say that I was somewhat disappointed.
Still a nice night out though.

After more than twenty years Tom Petty is coming back to Europe, including to my hometown Cologne! And I got tickets!! Hooray!!!
ImageImage

Tom's the one musician that was left on my concert wish list. For the past couple years I've actually been checking whether he'd do a Seattle gig that I could combine with my annual whaling trip, so this is one nice surprise...
