What the upcoming event is about. Nice Douglasian prose there, Mark! Anyone planning to attend besides DaveH and me?

Tickets are now on sale! I assume that we'll join the dinner as well?

As I will need to get the train back to Cambridge I am not sure I will be able to make the dinner.

Thanks for reminding me. I just booked my ticket, but only for the talk itself.

Well, tis only a few days away now...what's happening?

I've got my ticket to the talk. Some kind of meetup may be in order.

Well I dunno, I'm not sure I approve of other people writing sequels to Douglas' books...

Well if you haven't got a ticket yet I believe it has sold out. Which is good for the event, but not if you want a ticket.

At the last memorial lecture we met at the Hoop & Toy, but previously it was the Queen's Arms (and a different pub back when it was at the RI).
Any preference?

I suggested meeting up with Abigail at the Hoop & Toy on the day to collect a spare ticket which a friend of mine has said he will take. Abigail hasn't confirmed this yet, but it seems like the best location, as it's next to South Ken station.

So, our plan was to get there about 6.

There is a difference with LCTS and it lies within Mark Carwardine...

Ok, see you at the Hoop & Toy! I can only hope that my ticket arrives in time, otherwise I'll have to wrestle my way into the RGS.

I've always assumed that was just a generous profit-share thing on Douglas's part, I don't really believe MC actually wrote any of it.

I'm not going to argue over an assumed belief. That would only get me into trouble...

I still haven't received my ticket. Guess I email Save The Rhino for an emergency plan...

I'm leaving on Tuesday afternoon. DaveH just told me that there will be a list at the event. I'll bring the confirmation email with me, that should probably do the job if the ticket hasn't arrived by then. Thanks again for the info, Dave!

Oh well...

... as bitched elsewhere, Mark Carwardine has gotten the swine flu and couldn't attend the event. Sorry, Janette, no signature!

But Stephen Fry was great as always and the evening very enjoyable. Not least because I had gorgeous company!

Next to the bloke on the left we have the delectable Pip, the equally delectable Abigail, followed by her other half, Steve, who seems to be doing a passable impression of Zaphod.

They're all regulars at the memorial lectures. You see why I go now?

Yup, I imagine that Steve is a real magnet for you.

Was the event any good? What happened?
