Sad to just hear about the death last month from cancer, of John Joyce, an actor, friend and co-conspirator of the mad genius that was Ken Campbell.

I met John twice; once at The One Tun pub in JUne 1980, where John was handing out flyers to the monthly gathering of SF fans, advertizing Ken's Rainbow prodcution of "Hitchhiker's Guide". He mentioned they were looking for people to make Vogon masks and I volunteered along with two mates. So thanks, John!

Years later I met John when he attended a ZZ9 pub meeting in 2001, soon after Douglas' death and we reminisced about that show.

John was also known to Dr.Who fans as Garvin, the villager side-kick to the Master in the classic Jon Pertwee era story; "The Daemons" (1971).

R.I.P. John. :towel:

He worked on Hitchhiker and Doctor Who. He deserves a towel :towel:

PS : Kev, your work with the vogons masks for the Campbell production, it was the first time you got involved in H2G2, wasn't it?

No Nicolas, we had already made the pilot episode of the TV series by then. The Rainbow production was in that summer gap before the rest of the series started production.

ah, such a wonderful time, and I wasn't even here. But I was just 9 or 10 years old at the time...
