In case you hadn't heard, back in October it was announced that The Beatles would geet their very own official video game! A few days ago they gave us some more details: http://www.thebeatles.com/core/news/. This may finally convince me to give these things (music games: Guitar Hero, Rock Band, etc) a try. I've never played any of them, mostly cuz they're so frickin' expensive. I hope you don't have to be a "gamer" to enjoy these things, because I'm certainly not.

No, it's Rock Band through and through. I have Rock Band and several of the Guitar Hero games. They are embarassingly fun. Yes, I have had Rock Band parties. It's time I finally come out of the closet and admit it. Admitting it is the first step on the road to recovery.

But yeah, you play plastic guitars that give the feel of playing a guitar, but much easier to play. It does take some skill. Or you can sing (it judges the pitch and timing, but you can sing in any octave you desire), or play the drums (which semi-translates over to near the real thing). I've been loving the drums since I bought it, as it is challenging and fun. I'm getting a lot better at not only beating the drum pads but also using the kick pedal. Fun fun fun.

I have Rock Band and such on the Playstation 2, but just found out they are probably not going to release Rock Band: Beatles for the PS2. I don't want to upgrade or buy new equipment, dammit.

Well I don't like those games much but if it brings new fans to the Beatles, well I suppose I'm all for it.

Rush aren't very good at it though, even playing their own song.

For those of us who don't already play the guitar, there is definitely some fun in it. But for those who do have generally found it nothing but frustrating.

That's it. I have to get a Wii and Rock Band; although i prefer Guitar Hero better because the drums are more challenging with the cymbals (methinks). Unless... can you use Rock Band games with Guitar Hero instruments?

*loves Guitar Hero*

I've bought all the LP's decades ago. Now I've preordered all the remastered stereo CD's. That should give me the right to download the remastered mono albums from some friendly server. Right? Right?? Right???

Funny thing is, everyone's saying that this signals the end of the CD-era.

Unfortunately, no. I'm fairly certain they're not cross-compatable. Rock Band controllers only work with Rock Band games and Guitar Hero controllers only work with Giutar Hero games. Which sucks. Come to think of it, I still have a PS2. Guess I'll have to upgrade, if I want to play this friggin thing!

Hmm Sim Beatles...

Not a bad attempt but one of the things with the Beatles was when they performed live they all bobbed their heads in unison in perfect time to the beat, but these sims seem to be all over the place.

Ah well, the more Beatles fans the better as far as I am concerned.

And what's with the warning : Tobacco reference... First of all why would tobacco need to be warned about and secondly I couldn't see any ciggies anywhere.

This is apparently going to be the actual intro to the game. I believe this was made by the same team resoponsible for the Gorillaz. WOW. Keep an eye out for all sorts of in-jokes and refences and stuff in the background.

Bastards! After all the other Rock Band/Guitar Hero games being available for PS2, this is the first that isn't. And I could either spend money on buying a new band setup for the Wii, or I could pick up a PS3 and the game only, as I understand PS2 and PS3 equipment are compatible. If only PS3's were cheaper, dammit!

Edit: Actually, it looks like the PS3's just had a price drop. $299 is a bit easier, though it will probably be a little while before one can be picked up.

I'm in the same situation. I already have a PS2 and am little pissed that isn't on it. I'm debating whether to get a PS3 after this supposed price -drop happens. The Wii is still cheper, though (I think). In any case, I probably won't get anything (game, system, or otherwise) until Xmas, at the earliest, hopefully as gift.

Wii is cheaper, but only by $50 now. Wii is more family friendly, but PS3 has blueray and better hardware to support graphics. If I was making the choice today which to buy, it would be PS3. But I'd be the only one playing it.

So has anyone bought the remastered albums yet?
Is it worth it?

the game is bloody fun. I have beaten it on Medium for Guitar, nearly there on drums, Need to buy a microphone and do it again on that. I can't play the hard option, my stupid fingers can't reach the 5th orange button. It's the most amount of fun if you can get 4 friends and do the whole band. We had a small party, I was the only one who'd consent to be Ringo. at the end of a particularly hard one, I got to shout 'I got blisters on me fingers' to general confusion. Really looking forward to screeching Sgt Pepper.

Did I tell you my little joke?

There were once two brothers named Pepper. One joined the military and rose through the ranks. The other became a surgeon.

It's really more of an amusing anecdote than a joke...

I'm so jealous. I want this game, but will either have to upgrade my system or buy new instruments (or both). I especially want it because you can have something like 3 microphones to do all the harmonizing, I just found out. I'd love that.
As for that 5th button, you have to slide your hand - it's the only way to get it to work well. And that was hard for me to wrap my mind around, but not nearly as hard as a real guitar.

Fab Four sound fab! I blasted the mono version of "Please Please Me" through my house yesterday and was blown away by the sheer brilliance. It's as fresh and crisp as Roman Polanski loves it!
