Ug. I saw him at Sheffield many years ago, together with Joe Cocker and Rod Stewart.

I saw him live man times in the late 80s, but he seemed to take a wrong turn after "that song", didn't he change song-writing team or something?

I bet he's still a class performer, Thrith...have fun!

He has aged and so has his audience...

Should be a Goodie time. You certainly have a good roster of visitors to Bristol.

Last week we saw Yes (ish). And while Jon was noticeably missing, it was an extremely enjoyable evening.
Even though I lost my glasses.

Come February, we've got tickets to see Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt.

Dude, that's not a concert. It's a medieval torture device.

 Cool!

Did you know that Adrian Legg is playing Cleveland next week, and Columbus on 20th?

I did not! In fact, I'd thought he'd quit touring.
Or was that recording?
I'll have to look into the possibility of catching him in Columbus. merci

Now you mention it, yes he did say he was quitting either recording or touring, and I can't remember which either...err. Either way, grab him while you can.

Not really a concert, but myself and Ms. Whisky are going to see ALW's The Phantom Of The Opera end of February at the Buell Theatre.

Funnily enough I have just been looking at options to see the show in London . I am not a great Webber fan, in fact hardly at all, but I saw the original London Show with Michael Crawford and it was fabulous and out son want to see it so who am I to argue?

I've seen a show like every few weeks this year, it's been brilliant. Up next (or at least the only planned one at the moment) is the Animal Collective in January. I'll go into more detail about the wonderful concert year I've had when I'm not so sleepy.

The Rosebuds. Tonight, actually. Just got back. Utterly brilliant.

These folks just flat out know how to put on a show. When the
audience gets into it, they shine all the more. I can't hear a
fucking thing right now and I'm exhausted but I'm still wandering
about in a state of bliss.

Opening acts The Fatal Flaw (horrible) and The Love Language
(excellent) took so long that the 'buds didn't even take the stage
until about 11:30. Still played for nearly 2 hours. Amazing show.

Awesome stuff! The boys are pretty good, the show is fab and the experience as close as it gets. Especially worthwhile nowadays, when Sir Paul is charging a hundred bucks for a concert! Seriously, if they ever perform at a venue close to you, GO!!!

They're coming to San Antonio. I was planning on going, but PookaDad and I just snagged tickets to see Sir Paul in Tulsa, so I'm not sure if I want to do this, too. And yes, the tickets were astronomically expensive ($250 each not counting all the BS service charges and whatnot).

Past tense but... last night I went to see Yamato in the Cologne Philarmonic. Awesome, ecstatic stuff that makes you want to shout with joy! You hear the drums and you feel them. The people in the first couple rows probably had internal bleedings, I was glad to sit up a bit higher! On the other hand magical quiet pieces, sometimes very funny as well. Lots of audience participation and a beautiful stage setting. Overall an amazing experience that one must live to tell! Those four girls and six boys of Japan are athlete artists of the highest grade. If they ever come to a theatre near you, go experience the magic of Yamato for yourself!

Hopefully I'll be seeing Leonard Cohen in Chicago come October. His world tour was extended by several months, and he's coming back stateside, which means I don't have to hijack a plane to Luxembourg or Andorra.

Tickets are a bit pricey, though. Still deciding if we can afford it.

Lozlan, my good man, there must be something you can sell or so. I would prefer to sell my bed and sleep on the floor to missing the man himself. Or rob a bank, or donate your body to science...

I was going to see the Squirrel Nut Zippers, but I had a scheduling conflict. Most recent concert I saw was the Red Elvises. They put on a good show.

A friend of mine saw him in Colorado recently, and said it was one of the best shows he has seen.

Iris DeMent - most of her songs are way too twangy for my tastes, but the few that aren't are golden. Plus, we're going with my youngest sister and her husband, so I can put up with a bit of twang for that.

Hanna Elmqvist & Bjorn Jansson Quartet, at the jazz club. Hanna is evidently from this town, and she's got a lot of praise in press for being a 'jazz voice to keep ones ears at' and such. 'Balanced phrasing', 'Clear diction & warm tone'. Just a few of the nice words from the critics. Mr Jansson obviously has a 'robust swing tenor' which matches her very well. Should be great. Actually I just got the membership card for the jazz club in the mail about an hour ago, so I'll go there as a fully paid membership operator one.
Nice.
I shall see if there's any chance of requesting tunes. If so I shall pop in my request for 'stormy weather'. A tune I just love. One of the best renditions of 'rhythm changes' I ever heard is that one. The best one I heard actually is not Ella's version, it's Colleen & friends, Howard Brown and his wife Colleen & their band. It just kills me. What a voice. If instrumentals are accepted, Hanna must rest a bit, I'll ask for 'Boplicity' or 'Donna Lee'.
A superb evening in the sign of Jazz awaits the here undersigned party.
I actually found a link to the site where one may listen to a few snippets from her latest album. Here it goes: http://www.jazz.se/artists/hanna/hannaelmquist.html
Peace
Skei (the just got the membership card one)

Yes, I went to my first night out in about 15 years. It was all I had hoped for. I even got a bit adventurous and had a beer, but later I decided to let it enjoy the company of a large jar of coffee.
During that escapade I enjoyed one of the best concerts I ever went to. Splendid. Truly amazing. I'm more into the instrumental thing myself, and certainly heard some superb playing. The vocals were very good, though, Hanna had a program of Anita O Day things, and she did them so well. Top of the pudding was a great rendition of the classic, right now the name left my mind, much like the nightingale in the tune would have done if it were there, in my mind I mean. It's a tune Ulf Wakenius did a version of together with the late great NHOP. Edit: The tune in question is, of course, 'a nightingale in Berkley square'...
It was magic. Truly a night to remember.
Jazz is evidently best enjoyed live.
Nice.

Peace
Skei (the enjoyer of the best one)
