Good afternoon one and all.

Did anyone else record the original broadcasts in 1978?

If they did, do they still have them (or did they lose them like I did)?

If they still have them, might they have converted them to a digital format?

I'd like to settle an argument with myself ...

Thanks. Actually, technically, I'm merely impatient to settle the argument, as I've found someone who might have a copy. At least, he knows where might be ... but if anyone else happens to ...

I did have audio cassettes recorded from, I think, a 1980 re-run of the radio series, but I think they're in the loft or garage...

What's the argument? The change to the mouse voices? The Pink Floyd music? Probably been covered elsewhere already.

PS - I don't have the original radio version, sorry.

What?! How can this be?

You're making it up.

I first heard the second repeat of Fit The First in late 1978, recorded Fit The Second onwards and luckily met Douglas two weeks later. I've never actually heard the original original version before the mix was altered. Not many people have. The cassettes and later CD releases are slightly altered from that unique first transmission in March 78.

There's a book about all this somewhere....

No, clearly not or I would hardly be asking here. Just a few discrepancies as an exercise in long-term memory chasing : )

I'm afraid it has to be the first broadcast, so the probability is low (but perhaps not infinitely so).

Many thanks for the offer, but I'm afraid I'm looking for the first broadcast. Now if you had the first run of the second series as well ...

I didn't record FTF of the original broadcast either. It was really only a few seconds after it ended that I realised exactly how good this series was going to be, but I recorded all the rest. Now long gone (sigh).

Maple syrup on the mattress is nothing! There's this game where first we heat it up, then pour it on the snow, it gets hard.....people stand around watching and then they all take a piece to lick. Some people don't like the taste, so they just watch.

.... And, on top of that, we only do this in the Spring, when the sap is flowing just right. Correction: when the sap rises.

We call it sugaring off.

Honest, ask any Canadian. It's a time honoured Spring tradition.

No, I was just explaining the finer points of Spring Traditions in Canada to Gusty.

I'm afraid I may have over heated the forum innuendo meter this time.

We can always arrange for snow in Gwen's bed if he'd like some.

Why you want tree sap on frozen water, still computing ... Wow, it's a biggie! Going to take a little time to work out ...

Now, those recordings ...
