http://www.cs.hmc.edu/~keller/jazz/improvisor/

The above is a link to a site providing an app for mac and pc. It's a neat thing, similar to band in a box, but it's free. I haven't tried it, as I have BIAB, but I think I'm gonna download and install it anyway, always looking for new things...
They say it can generate voicings for lead work, and while BIAB can do that, it's nice to try out new venues. Although it is made with jazz in mind, don't let that stop you, it handles any music style, they say, and why not?

It can also be used as a play along device, which is neat, if your band is away on vacation, or such...

The only must is apparently that you have java 1.5 or above installed, which I believe every human with a computer have.
Just something for the interested musician, or something.

It renders midi files, so space is no concern. And it comes with a library of some 2500 tunes in midi, and as chord sequences can't be copyrighted that opens a lot of doors!

Peace

Cool apps for Continuumers.

Hey all -

I downloaded my very own jazz-creating program this evening (thanks usk). Looks completely bewildering and confusing. Luckily I enjoy unraveling labyrinthine programs (and, incidentally, dressing up like John Coltrane and scaring small children), so this is the program for me.
