Well that wasn't the idea, I just chose that clip because it was the best version I found, here's another one I like before Spector became weird, no wait, well whatever the man is. he makes a good tune.

Does anyone else think the first 53 seconds (First verse and chorus) are slightly slowed down, just a tad, and then it kind of reverts to normal speed?

Yes, I always found that a bit strange. I have a suspicion that for the opening they used vari-speed, speeding the backing track up a little to achieve that deep voice sound for the beginning

This is another example (for the sake of camparison...honest), if you listen very closely you can hear the join, but you have to listen very closely.

The two versions switch at exactly one minute, the second part is slightly slowed down to be in the same key.

On a totally different tack, an unusual version of one of my very favourite songs:

Apparently, this is a classic song in Brazil. Ã

This is as classic as it gets for me. The ultimate youth anthem
and the Replacements first response to MTV. The vinyl version
of the song being played to a simple image of a stereo speaker.

Yeah, I liked it too, it’s just one of those most unlikely combinations ever, like a milk chocolate bar in barbeque sauce a’floppin’ hot off the griddle. Doesn’t sound very good, but its sort of tasty if I don’t think about it too much.

Here’s a pretty cool, high-energy version of Blinded By The Light performed live by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band:

And here’s the most heinous version of the song I have ever heard, perpetrated by none other than the guy who wrote it. (In front of a live audience no less.)
Whew. What's up with that?

Yeah, but an inevitable evolutionary outcome I fear. Once ABBA set the stage for such shenanigans, it was only a matter of time.
