Am I the only one here that follows F1?

This is the first season in years I'm looking forward to, regret not putting a bet on Hamilton winning a race when he first caught my eye a couple of years ago.

Alonso in a new team, new drivers, Honda's rather bizarre car livery, no Schuey, amongst other things, should be interesting on Sunday.

Not at all. It's one of my favorite keys.

I am a big F1 fan, unfortunately it just doesn't get coverage here like it does in Europe. I watch when I can and try to stay up on the standings, which means I might get to see three to four races per season. IRL can take a running leap for all I care. Gimme my F1, dammit!

Actually, the (non satellite) coverage here is pretty poor, you don't see any of the Friday practice, and ITV, who have the rights to show it from F1M have a tendancy to jump to adverts just as something is about to happen.

I'm going to experiment with listening to Five Live's coverage on the radio whilst watching it on the tellyvision this year, see if that helps...

And Hamilton was third fastest in practice, Alonso sixth (I think) and even Davidson beat Button. Roll on Sunday

Used to be quite a big fan. Saw the Scotsman (Coulthard win Monaco, great race). Seen Barcalona, French Grand Prix couple of times, and the wonderful Spa track, thrice!

But I liked it more when Hill was in it. Now that Schuey is out, things may become more fun again.

It's a shame that Button didn't make his mark before Hamilton came in and, no doubt, will steal the thunder from him, although I do wish I'd put a punt on him winning a F1 race this season last year when he was really making his mark in GP2, when he won both races at Monaco I started to realise what a bloody good driver he is.

The single tyre manufacturer and the "must change" rule might make things interesting, but after the first race I'm please to see that McLaren have finally got there arse in gear

(did you know that the person in charge of the catering has to take a four pack of baked beans with her to every race in case somebody wants beans on toast, much to the disgust of Ron Dennis who has called them the most expensive beans in the world?!)

A friends daughter jointly owns the catering firm together with said Mr. Dennis...

I hereby officially declare myself a Lewis Hamilton fan, despite him driving for McLaren-Mercedes and Ron Dennis (whom I just can't stand). What an incredible performance by such a young driver, following up an already superb drive in his first race! This is going to be one heck of a season. Cool...

Agreed, I had my laptop showing the F1 split times and towards the end, when that was updated faster than the commentary was coming through, nervous stuff...

And he looked so relaxed at the press conference. Really should have put a punt on him. He said on the team radio "I'm going to have one this season" to his pit crew!

Oh, and although the TV didn't really show it, Ferrari managed to drop their champagne when it was dropped over the podium to them!

More proof that the team isn't the same since Schumi and Ross Brawn have retired. Will be interesting to see how they fight back. BMW is surprisingly strong but then, Renault is simply horrible. Not to speak of Honda...

Which website do you follow the lap times on?

formula1.com - you have to register but it's free

Don't think the recent idea by Spyker to advertise advertising space on it's cars on eBay will have worked after the weekend. There was a caller on Five Live yesterday suggesting that Honda went back to last years cars! (or swap with Super Aguri, though have just read on crash.net that Honda are happy with their performance

Wonder why young Hamiltons mum is never mentioned, his dad was at Sepang and his brother was mentioned.

At amazon you can pre-order a new Lewis Hamilton biography (publishing date will be Nov 1, 2007)

Publisher's synopsis wrote:
Lewis Hamilton crowned his 2007 debut season by winning the title in Japan in October... It was an outcome no one seriously could have predicted;

Seriously!!!

There is, as you'd expect, a backlash about Lewis in the UK press now. Build a pedestal and then destroy it. Rumours of a house in Monaco, Alonso wanting out...

Oh, and the powerhouse that runs the thing is now ater Arsendal.

Humpf.

I'll be rising early to watch Istanbul. Ferrari, McLaren, Ferrari, McLaren. Should be an interesting race.

The transcript of the last FIA's Extraordinary Meeting is indeed an extraordinary read!
