I just really hoped the Claire and Jack's dad connection wouldn't have turned out the way it did. Too silly. They better eventually get these connections to mean something, cause if they are meaningless, then its a little too soap opera-y.

I can't help but suspect that Jack's dad will turn out to have known more than we thought. Somehow, I think he had some knowledge of the island or of one of it's various involved organizations.

I hope that next week, Locke doesn't merely become sinisterer. I hope he becomes absolutely sinistererest. Not sinistererester, though. That would just be silly.

Locke kicks ass. But I don't want that ass he kicks to be Benry's. They should team up and overthrow the Earth together.
I'm sure Jack Vader is somehow involved in this whole thing. He's virtually omnipresent.

Wow...Locke's dad is a bastard.

New theories last night (could be spoilers, if you've not seen the episode last night):

Locke's dad is the leader of the Others. Either that or Jack's dad is, who hasn't put in an appearance on the island since the first season.
Locke's dad is the real Sawyer
the "Magic Box", whatever that is, is responsible for the viewing of Kate's horse, and a few other weird sightings on the island, and the smoke monster is responsible for the rest. Dunno though. Still working on that one.

Nasty mean cruel Benry. And poor Rousseau. Their daughter sure is hot, though.

What? After the "Paulo & Nikki Are Dead" episode, nobody's talking about it?

One of the best episodes this season. I loved the return of the dead in telling their stories. What a very nice tongue-in-cheek episode. And especially happy to see Artz again (or however his name is spelled). Utter coolness.

And the ending....hoooooooooooooooooooo the ending.........

Man, Cag, I have to disagree there. That one just felt really poorly-written and rushed to me. I can't figure it out... Nothing clicked for me. It's the first episode this season that's just thrown me off.

I thought it was endless fun. Maybe it was a bit rushed, but then again they did a pretty good job condensing 84 days of Nikki and Paolo's life into 40 minutes.

I thought it was a kind of "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead" kind of episode, along with a grisly ending. And all the little things for fans, such as "I sure hope we don't turn out like them." Loved it.

My reaction to Wednesdays episode:

BWAHAHAHA!!!

Oh god, that was horrible.

*snicker*

I liked it. It doesn't seem like it will probably turn out to have much long term significance. But that's ok, I think the bigest flaw of the show lately is that it has been a little too caught up in its own plot twists and the character work has taken a backseat. But I think this episode addressed that roblem pretty well.

My favorite part about the first season was the way that it was mostly just about these characters trying to survive on a strange island, and occasionally some significant chunk of plot would fall into place and it would be a pleasant surprise. I still think the show is interesting and enjoyable, but lately it has felt like the plot points have been coming so frequently that it kind of loses the impact. I think that is somewhat unavoidable now that we are spending more time with the others, since they clearly know more than the crash-survivors, but it makes it a little harder for the character work to come through.

Anyway, thats my take. I'm still enjoying it though.

yeah I agree with number<insertnumbershere>.

you think they're trying to make up for the lack of plot in the first series? it's as if they've not been commissioned for a fourth series so they're cramming it all into the third one  I like how the Others know so much about the survivors and John Locke intrigues me. It's still good stuff but I sure hope they know where it's going!

I for one am reasonably confident that they do. Based on the creators statements regarding how long the show is planned to run (4-5 seasons) and their insistence that the show not continue beyond their original plans, it seems like they would have a fairly clear idea about how it is meant to wrap up. If they were flying completely blind, it seems like they would have no reason or desire to publicly announce a limit to the number of episodes they will produce.

Last night's episode was quite good! Once again, they focused on the characters. At this point though, I'm starting to think the flashbacks are just filler.

SPOILERS

I was hoping Sayid would have a freakout and take Juliete down or something. I just don't like that character...

Ummm...wow? What the hell is going on with this show. They better not have killed one of the best characters. Especially as it looks like Charlie might be meeting his doom next episode.

Okay, I haven't watched in around 3 or 4 weeks and finally tuned in last night. It was like watching a totally different show. I think I'm better off waiting for the season 3 DVD to catch up. The show kind of lost me after the episode with the flashback dedicated to how Jack got his tattoo. *snore*

Thought some of you might like to know that ABC announced earlier in the week that Lost is going to air for 3 more seasons of 16 episodes each, so 48 episodes after the current season ends. It'll be run from January through May without repeats.

This might, and I stress might, get me watching again, because since they now have a definite end date, there should be less wheel spinning and more moving ahead.

48 more episodes huh? Great news, I'd be lost without it, or rather wouldn't be Lost without it, actually I've never seen it, but sheesh I don't think I could sit through 48 episodes.

Neither could I...that was always my problem with the show. What could have been done brilliantly in two or three seasons was stretched out to six or seven, with a lot of mediocre, "filler" nonsense in between. That's American network television for you...milk the cash cow dry, never mind the quality of the output.

Mr. Eko.

I'm not sure if Locke is dead for good or not. His flashback story seems more or less completed. It seems that he is not welcome with any group on the island right now, and I think he may have blown his shot to learn the island's secrets. So I think he could be dead. Of course, being dead may not mean he's gone for good.

You could say the same about Jack, though. And Kate. Possibly Sawyer too. I've read some spoilers so I know some of the revelations for the last two episodes in the third series but even so I think either of those three could go without the show suffering. At least not plot-wise. Rating-wise maybe  As for Locke, no one in tv-shows or films are dead until they've been buried (unless it's a zombie film, or, they've just been paralysed by poison!) so although we did see him fall down there with a gunshot wound that doesn't mean he's dead.

Ahhh, I'm still digging it. It had a rough patch this season, but then again, it did last season too. They were building it up to what we are getting to now, and a lot of times, that can be dull. Kinda like last season when we got the episode about the tailies. I found that pretty dull and started to question if they were going anywhere. But it's rolling right along now.

About Eko - the actor didn't want a long stint on the show. I read all about it in Entertainment Weekly, and actually the people running the show wanted him to stick around longer, but the actor said he wanted off because his autobiographical story told in movie form was purchased and he wanted to work on that. So they wrote him out.

I'm sad about Charlie leaving. He was the main reason I started watching the damn thing in the first place, but they really haven't done a lot with him lately, and he has become pretty whiney. Still, Dom's a damn funny guy, and I always enjoy episodes with him.

As for Locke, well...wouldn't be completely surprised, but then again, I would still be somewhat surprised as he's the one that tends to make things happen, for good or ill. I've grown to dislike Jack, so I don't really want to see him running the show again. Then again, I have a strange feeling they might finally kill off Jack. There is talk they are going to do something radical with the show, and that would do it. Plus, they are setting up Sawyer to take over as the leader of the camp, and it is known that Jack will be the focus of the season finale. And next season, supposedly, they might be doing away with the flashbacks, which at this point, I think is a good thing, as pretty much all the stories are told. But I doubt Jack will be gone, as what his tattoo means sounds like he'll continue to be the hero. I dunno. We'll see.

I have faith that it'll all come together in the end. Yeah, it's goofy and hokey at times, but they still keep me guessing and pull enough surprises still to keep me guessing and on my toes and on the edge of my seat. And again, it's about the journey for me...not the conclusion. More than likely, the conclusion of the show will probably disappoint.

I'm just waiting for my Rousseau flashback, dammit. I want to know what has happened with her since she came to the island.

I'm also waiting for a Mikhail Bakunin- and Richard Alpert-flashback. And possibly a Jacob-flashback as a Grand Finale? Explaining how he came to be an image only seen (and heard) by special fellas like Locke or Benry.

[spoil]Michael's coming back! Michael's coming back![/spoil]

I'd bet anything in the world that I am right, and that it happens within the next two episodes.

what would be the point of that, though?

Here's what'll happen.

[spoil]Jack, Sawyer or Locke will die in the last episode and Jack & Claire will find out that they share a father. I'm guessing this last bit will be thanks to one of the files the Others have on them. There will be a confrontation between the Others and the survivors and they'll attempt to get off the island. Obviously that won't happen because they're doing another three series.[/spoil]

All I know is that

[spoil]Michael's coming back. And Walt.[/spoil]

I can't say for sure why. I have a sneaking suspicion that

[spoil]they will bring rescue.[/spoil]

EDIT: As for the point, there are many possibilities.

[spoil]Walt could use his magic to save Locke. We know Walt likes Locke, and as near as I can tell, that's about the only relationship in Locke's life that hasn't caused Locke to get hurt. So there's probably some significance there. Also, the creators have stated that the major survivors are seeking redemption for things that happened in their lives. But Michael was a more or less good guy before he got to the island. He had to work on the whole "being a dad" thing, but he was clearly willing to try. But, on the island he killed two people and betrayed his friends. So now it's time for him to seek redemption. Also, they could have been picked up by the ship that Naomi came from.[/spoil]

But that's all rampant speculation. There's still only one thing I know for sure, and that's what I said above.

EDIT 2: I want to amend my statements. The event to which I refer will hapen in the final two episodes of the season. Not the next two. I forgot we still had another episode before the 2-part season finale.

To clarify:

[spoil]Michael[/spoil]

will not

[spoil]return[/spoil] in wendesday's episode. But it will happen on either May 23 or May 30.

Am I going overboard with the spoiler tags?

it makes sense, I suppose. That _______ was picked up by _________ and is ___________ for the reasons you stated. I just don't like the sound of it, it's what they do with reality-shows like BigBrother etc.

I've never seen BigBrother, so I'll hve to take your word for it.

I can understand not liking it, I guess. But to me, it just feels right. So I'm looking forward to it.

[spoil]I always thought Michael was one of the best characters on the show, and the Walt mystery is interesting to me. And it always felt like his story wasn't done. I find his return more compelling and more "fair" than Mikhail's survival. So I'm glad he's coming back.[/spoil]

Fair enough, I s'pose. The thing about shows like Big Brother is that they [spoil]bring back people that were voted out earlier in the show to create controversy as well as getting the number of viewers up etc. [/spoil], which is why I don't like what you're saying  But if it can be done properly and there is a reason for it then sure, why not. It's not like I get a say in this anyway

I think [spoil]Locke will be saved by the Monster - who may be Jacob himself. I don't exactly know how the Monster could save him, but there must be some way for it to do so. None the less, I'm almost absolutely certain they won't kill Locke off![/spoil]

That is a good theory, actually!

[spoil]Why did Jacob say 'help me', though? Maybe he is the ghost of one of the dharma people  or not! but if he only speaks to Ben and actually said something to Locke it's obviously of some significance and Jacob will probably save Locke so that he can help him to do whatever it is he wants Locke to do.[/spoil]

[spoil]I think Benry's simply jealous. He's afraid Locke will take his place, because apparently he does have a 'communion with the Island' which Benry may lack (even though he can see Jacob, but that may be the result of him being manipulative enough to make the other Others even less suitable to meet Jacob than he is himself). And Benry therefore may even be a bigger sneaky bastard than we have thought, because that'd mean that it is actually him that Jacob desperately seeks help against - and if Jacob believes that Locke can help him, I think he'll do pretty much anything to save him - like making the Monster do it for him.[/spoil]

I understand why it might feel like a cheap stunt to boost ratings...

[spoil]... but I feel like Michael's return was part of the plan all along. It doesn't feel like they are "breaking the rules" like they do on a reality show, because it feels like his return is a big part of the story, set up a year ago. It doesn't feel like a cheap trick to boost ratings, it feels like the natural progression of the story. They aren't magically bringing him back from the dead. He just disappeared and we have no idea what happened to him. It feels entirely fitting that we should find out now.[/spoil]

I said the word "feel" for to many times right there. Especially for a non-dirty post.
