It is with great pride I can announce that author Terry Pratchett has agreed to have a sit in our comfy VIP chat chair and talk to us all for round about an hour over a cup of tea. You can enter the chat from this page.

Quick presentation:
Terry Pratchett sold his first story when he was thirteen, which earned him enough money to buy a second-hand typewriter. His first novel, a humorous fantasy entitled The Carpet People, appeared in 1971 from the publisher Colin Smythe. Terry worked for many years as a journalist and press officer, writing in his spare time and publishing a number of novels, including his first Discworld novel, The Color of Magic, in 1983. In 1987 he turned to writing full time, and has not looked back since. To date there are a total of 33 books in the Discworld series, of which three (so far) are written for children. The first of these, The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents, won the Carnegie Medal. A non-Discworld book, Good Omens, his 1990 collaboration with Neil Gaiman, has been a longtime bestseller, and will be reissued in hardcover by William Morrow in early 2006. His new Discworld novel, Thud!, is now available.

Regarded as one of the most significant contemporary English-language satirists, Pratchett has won numerous literary awards, was named an Officer of the British Empire “for services to literatureâ€

Great news, Dukey...I saw him give a great interview with Mark Lawson for the BBC. Quiet, modest, and quick witted....just like me....except for the modest bit...and the quick wittedness....OK, sometimes I can be a bit noisy too....and I don't have a beard....and I'm not bald....but otherwise, just like me.

no really, it´s just wonderful this chat will take place. thanks again for organising it, dukey. you´re the best!
i´d like to ask pterry about his development as a writer. i expect great things from him in the future. i feel that he could tackle "bigger", "more serious" subjects in his unique way.
in one bio i´ve read the funny yet accurate line "occasionally, he gets accused of literature". that´s exactly what i mean. i don´t see him as an exclusively humoristic writer, not anymore. time and again he´s shown a great care for humanistic themes, that get more pronounced in his work over time. i´m very, very curious to see where he´s heading, and very much willing to accompany him on this way. that´s a bit the stuff i´d like to talk to him about ...
