Hi,

For some years I’ve been a forum-leech (guest), but now I’m entered the world of registered members. I’m a former neighbour of Jenz (Duke) and of course a admirer of DA and his work. As we speak I’m re-reading the adventures of Dirk Gently (some fifteen years ago since the last time).
Duke is a dear friend I have enjoyed many of Dukes culinary dinners at the former Dunstable-residence. After his move to IKEA-land (some 500 km from Stockholm) its hard to keep in contact, but I hope my membership at DAC will improve that.

As a friend of Duke I have heard a lot about you lot at DAC, of course only nice things. And I recognize, at least, the regulars at DAC.

Regards

Foppa
(aka Fredrik)

That's the Art Ross Trophy. It's awarded to the NHL player who leads the league in scoring. The pictured recipient is Peter Forsberg, aka Foppa. Although, with his propensity for diving, some fans have referred to him as "Floppa".

Well, a while ago I tried to propose a new grammar for DAC writing. Like all grammars it has rules but noone seemed to like the idea so my sig is probably the only place left following it.

Welcome! Some tips on how to survive here:

Never smile at Iain.
Learn to pun. And pun well.
Try not to get sexually involved with Ken Socrates. He'll only break your heart.

And have this:

Dearie me, Duke, it's probably the most recognisable version of those large friendly letters!
It's on ZZ9's towels but was originally used in the guide animations in the TV series.

Image

I seem to remember ZZ9's towels were actually yellow on red back in the '80s but are now red on white.

Nope, but I did try (with the help of Dukey) to show you the present Dukey-recidence in Växjo via web cam last summer, do you remember seeing a lot of flowers?

Thanks for all the nice greetings, I feel welcome in the DAC family!

Thanks again and have a forum-leech

gusty is, of course, right, but dukey´s got a point, too: i´ve always thought that these letters looked a tad agressive, not friendly at all.

Rod Lord added those letters to the front of the Babel Fish sequence as an afterthought just before he shot that very first animation test sequence. They strobe in jarring complimentary colours as a sort of ironic joke - the least freindly way of presenting the message. I think Rod made them deliberately similar (but not quite) to the DON'T PANIC logo on the rear of the first paperback and the first LP sleeve. In studio I was asked to paint the logo on the cover of the book prop as it had been overlooked. They gave me some thick orange scenery paint and I had to do it from memory. I used to have a photograph of me painting it in the vogon ship hold set, but I've lost the slide, sadly...

There was a big ugly close-up of that dreadful bit of handiwork in the intro to the Pebble Mill item on the DVD, but we cut it out! I'll try to get a frame grab sometime so you can see what I mean.
