I can't believe there isn't a forum dedicated to this yet.

I second that, we need that more than a "cheese forum."

I'll start.

Say. Has anyone noticed the effects of the Black Plague on the breakdown of Feudalism?

Did you notice that too? The whole of Feudalism broken down. Just like that. Bummer.

I know. First, it was like all Black Plague and boils and stuff. Then, all of a sudden, the Feudalism broke down like a Ford auto. I mean, what's up with that?

Personally, I think the stronger monarchies were to blame. Either that or the Hottentots.

Oh, great ... now we have to pay Emeril $500 in royalties - there goes the Continuum fund.

No we don't! I wrote "Bam" with a period:
Bam.

This is like saying "Bam" in a normal voice. Maybe a touch of forcefulness. Emeril, on the other hand, has copyrighted "Bam!" with a strong stress-- the equivalent of barking out the word. I did no such thing, therefore we need pay no royalties.

You know, the thing about feudalism is that there was a lot of violence inherent in the system. I mean, just look at the word itself. Starts with feud, which, as you well know, means: a bitter prolonged violent quarrel or state of hostility between families, clans, or other groups.

Then look at the rest of the word: -alism-. Which means absolutely nothing.
But I ask you, is that not in and of it self rather dark and suspicious?
No good could possibly come of a word like that, I say.
No wonder it broke down, and good riddance too.

But I wonder what Emeril Lagasse thinks about the effect of the black plague on the breakdown of feudalism. Any chance Duke could schedule him for a VIP chat?

Incredible as it may seem, I just got through talking with Emeril in an Internet culinary chat room. For real.
This is how our conversation went:

Me: Say Emeril, what do you think about the effect of the black plague on the breakdown of feudalism?

Emeril: Bam!

Me: Yeah. Pretty astonishing stuff. But tell me, what do you think it sounded like when feudalism broke down? Could it have ended with a bang, or a boom, or a…

Emeril: Bam!

Me: Ah, interesting speculation you have there. But let me ask you a question more of a historical/ culinary nature. With all the serfs dying off from the plague like they did, there really wasn’t anyone left to work the fields, which leads me to wonder; just what did people eat back then? Any ideas on that?

Emeril: Bam!

Me: Ham?

Emeril: Bam!

Me: Jam?

Emeril: Bam!

Me: Damn!

Emeril: Bam! Bam! Bam!

Me: Oh, I get it now. They didn’t have any food so all they could do was bang their plates on the table out of frustration. You really know how to drive home a point. I feel that we are getting along famously here. Any chance you could cater my next party? I could pay you with free beer and some coupons for McDonalds…

The conversation got a bit ugly after that, but me and Emeril, we’re still tight, you know. Peas in a pod really.

It’s quite possible that this is the dumbest thing ever posted on these forums. Sorry for the inconvenience.
