You're the only one. I'm thinking the World Cup is all but Brazil's.

I forecast that the USA will be beaten by the Brazilians in the 2nd round, but it could be a close shave.

it´s not. you don´t know the weather over here. it´s our secret weapon. once the real german summer hits us again with cold, rain & wind, all the heat-loving south-americans will come down with the flu and will be unable to play properly. here´s hoping for "fritz-walter-wetter"!
also, south america hardly ever wins in a european world cup.

I'm not all that surprised that those people didn't know the US was in the World Cup, Alk. I mean, who cares? Soccer is for weenies!!

Seriously though. Because the US doesn't kick ass at soccer, the media over here doesn't give a crap about it. and therefore doesn't bother to promote it. Because, of course, if you don't dominate something, there is no reason to find out anything about it-- regardless of whether or not the entire rest of the world is interested in it. :-/

If they do it definitely will be-- in 2002 when we got to the quarterfinals everyone was like "Hold on...wait...what?! We're in the WHAT?! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D"

But then we got knocked out and everyone forgot again.

I do hope we do alright, out of patriotism more than anything.

Team USA played quite unlike a team. Shut out 3-0? Ouch!

Don't know how they're going to expect to get far playing like that.

Gave the Czechs a chance to try out some spectacular moves.

The 2nd and 3rd goals were crackers

Well well. A tie against the Italians-- can't say I expected it. Then again, an own goal on the 'Talians' part... in any case it's underdog against underdog on Thursday (Ghana vs. USA). I don't know what to think about CZE cos they thrashed the US, and then Ghana beat them.

And Ghana should have made 2-3 goal more, and USA played way better today, all team in that group can advance with a victory i (except USA they also need some luck)

Ghana were excellent, strong passing, good movement on and off the ball, all the coach has to do now is teach them the offside rule and they could have a good chance of going far.

And Petr Cech was wonderful in goal for the Czechs, definitely saved them from HUGE humiliation.

Ghana and Argentina provided the best games so far. Great teamwork, great soccer, very fun to watch!

I watched the USA vs. Italy match yesterday. Tough stuff, but was an exciting game too.

And today Brazil will play against Australia. They better get themselves together this time, and play a great game, or they'll get lynched when they return home early :P

i watched the game on the "fan mile", standing directly in front of the Brandenburg Gate and crying my lungs out for ghana, because mr. nell is a huge africa fan and it´s contagious. the whole atmosphere is contagious! it´s great and totally unexpected for germany to be in such good spirits, and it´s not at all reserved to the german team. great dynamic, i hope it lasts as long as possible!
tomorrow: germany - ecuador, took the afternoon off to watch the game ... *crosses fingers*

Ah, to be in Germany right now.

And if I could just add a little side note: What in the hell happened to Oliver Kahn in the past four years? He was so amazing in 2002, and it seems that he's just gone downhill after that. A damned shame. With Kahn crapifying himself I only have Klose and Ballack to root for...and of course the delightfully leviathan Peter Crouch.
