Amazon delivered Small Gods, Lords and Ladies and Men at Arms along with some books recommended for a class I am taking. Does an Amazon delivery count as a trip to the bookstore?

Tai Chi is great for your teacup moving skills, but overall turned out to be not terribly useful.

I thought it was a character in a Bruce Lee movie?

Or was that Feng Shui?
or Hong Kong Phooey?

hahaha. if I did, maybe I would be able to finish my essay on place and setting in Charles Dickens' Great Expectations. Really struggling with it!

hmm I should get hold of The Meaning of Liff and eat both that and The Little Book of Calm!

picked up the Rik Mayall Autobiography for a friend, late birthday present. I orded The Little Book of Calm but HMV sent me The Little Book of Chavs instead. returned it yesterday, have no idea when they'll send me what I ordered. Tsk. Oh well. My friend will like the Rik Mayall book, she is a big fan of him

Over the weekend in Portland i made three trips to Powell's (the world's greatest book store). Consulting my receipts:

2 kitchen funnels shaped like elephant heads, with goggly eyes
March of the Penguins DVD
Charkes Dickens action figure (for my brother-in-law)
2 ornamental magnets
a beginner's knitting kit (mg)
The Wee Free Men by you-know-who
a CD of Rumi's poetry (for my sister)
a big water bottle with all of Portland's bridges, and fun facts about each one (also for my sister)
The Archer's Tale by Bernard Cornwell
Queen of Dreams by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni
and a post card from the original Star Wars (episode 4) with Luke and Obi-Wan and C3PO in the desert

It was an extravaganza! I love that store!

Nice choice. I don't know if you've read any other Neil Gaiman but that one was my introduction (after
Good Omens, actually). Fantastic novel by a brilliant author.

I've got American Gods, but I've only read a couple of pages. And I read Good Omens a few months back.

Good to see that it'll be good.

I asked for a recommendation from the store worker, and got this. It's like a textbook. If I don't like it, I'm taking it back.

Getting my brother The Little Book of Calm and The Little Book of Calm at Work for his birthday. might get him a copy of Rik Mayall's autobiography, too. Bought one on eBay. Argued for 3 hours yesterday with a friend; I told her I wanted to send her that book and she said if I did she'd pay for it (spent £11 on it in total) and I said I wouldn't let her. Haha. At one point we were holding up signs to each other on webcam saying "AYE!" and "NAW!" (she's Glaswegian hehe)! Oh well. Considering getting another copy now so I can send her one and still send my brother one!

Maskerade, Lords and Ladies, and Truckers by Terry P. Astoundingly, some poor soul donated them to the local thrift store! There's no accounting for taste with some people. Oh well. Their loss, my gain!
