Oh, just give in and buy one Tony

I have played briefly with a Win 7 beta and it looks quite good but I don't feel any desire to resurrect the PC that lurks unloved in the corner of my den at home.
The MacBook that has been my travelling companion for this trip has been absolutely great despite the fact that it took me several week to find out the CD/DVD drive sometimes jams and it will need fixed when I get home.

The adverts for Win 7 are terrible but before Macites start throwing stones, remember how bad the UK Apple ads are :(

I'll quote one of the commenters:

I was all set to say "oh god, not Mac vs Windows again"

Then I read the article. That was awesome. Just awesome.

I sort of liked that article.

I don't like Macs. They're evil.

I don't like Apple Salvation Fundamentalists either. Show your iGadget up your... but don't show them to me and brag your brains out. It's just pure stupidity.

I don't like Windows either, it's like having a root canal done. Sometimes you just must cope with it. I just hate when windows decides to not boot because one of the hatchlings left a memory card in the PC, or the iPod after sync.

Yes ,I do also have an iPod, but I don't brag about it, because there is nothing to brag about. It just had a handy price tag when I wanted a music gadget.

And I don't hold it against you personally that you are Apple Brain Washed. I accept that people are religious as well.

Forget all that Mac Vs PC nonsense and get back to a real OS.

You know your getting old when you start to get nostalgic about computers!

Oh, so you're a fast w*nker?
Oops, sorry, where did that come from?

More seriously, does anybody know if that video really is produced by Mircosoft? It wouldn't really surprise me if someone told that it's produced by Apple to make people convert to Snow Leopard instead.

Personallty, I'm just ignoring the video and looking forward to the upcomimg free W7 update that was included when I bought ny new laptop.

By coincidence Charlie Brooker presented a one-off show on the history of gaming tonight, called Gameswipe.

And 2g2 gets a mention as "still possibly the funniest game ever made...honestly" [about 19 mins in].

A real nostalgiafest.

That's a good one! Enjoyed seeing two of my favourite people again.
To return to business, as it were, somebody, possibly a windows owner, stated that the macmini didn't work for 3d stuff due to it lacking a real graphic card, well MINE sure works for 3d stuff, no problems whatsoever. In fact I never once experienced any problem whatsoever involving the not being there graphic card. Now, I haven't done any animating with the 3d app, and I haven't tried creating a game in Blender's game engine, and I suppose doing that kind of thing might prove impossible without a real card. Creating 3d environment, or objects, with huge amount of textures and stuff is no problem, crawling around in 3d landscape with the camera is no prob.

To sum it up: at least Blender, which is a very good 3d app, works flawlessly on a macmini without a true graphic card, trust me.
Playing heavy games with advanced graphics, that may not be easy, I never tried it, only starship titanic in parallels desktop, and super mario -98, which is at my level...

Peace
Skei (the almost up to speed in 'bebop' -the tune - one, preparing for recording one)

I also think it might be a great one, the reason I don't own one is that I can't afford it, the cost being the same as one months rent for my hole in da wall...

Terminated or coffee
Sic.

Primarily a Windows user, though I grew up with both and can still manage a Mac (though I'll never be able to troubleshoot it).

Only problems I've had with either operating system came with age and lack of care. Age being VERY important; the reason it's booting up slowly may be because the hardware can't handle it anymore. Particularly the harddrive...those stinkers tend to die out before anything else. Windows is at a disadvantage because more malware is written to attack it and such, but that's the biggest con off the top of my head at the moment.

Regarding cost and repair? Windows wins. Not only is it cheaper, it's easy to fix a desktop and I've fixed a Dell laptop before. Macs? They look pretty, but they are much more expensive and less compatible with some internal hardware, correct me if I'm wrong. Desktops aren't too scary but I'd have no clue where to start with their laptops, especially stuff like the Air. I'm amazed that thing even functions.

Macs are better for sound engineering, I know that much. Both my college and my brother's college insist on using them, at least (Logic is awesome anyway). But I'm primarily a gamer in regards to computers, and most games don't run on Macs (that's changing), thus I use Windows.

Again, I only ever had problems with slowdown on rather old and heavily used machines, this includes Macs.
