Okay, you Britishers... just because you don't watch the game doesn't mean you have to be disrespectful.

That didn't piss me off as much as the Bob damned mini-concert VS. felt the need to put on. I understand the thought of trying to attract the younger audience, but I'd had my heart set on trying to watch at least the first period of the Avalanche game, but by the time Alanis Morissette and Def Leppard had finished (Def Leppard sounded like shit by the way, but I kinda liked Alanis' new song) I said fuck it and went to bed.

As for The Cup faux pas, you'd think somebody would have explained to Joe that you don't lift The Cup unless you won it, and for Bob's sake set the fucking thing down right-side up!!!! My only hope is that The Cup is now cursed and the 'Wings will take a big nose-dive this season.

Gawddammit, if Claude Lemieux manages to come out of retirement and actually gets picked up by an NHL team, I'm going to kill a bleeping puppy for every pro shift he's on the ice. I hate that guy. Even when he was playing for the Avs.

Sean Avery is like a school in summer. No class.

"Sean Avery may have irreparably damaged his relationship with the Dallas Stars."

Four teams down. Twenty-six more to go before you've swept the league, Sean. To think this guy shares a jersey with the likes of Modano and Turco. What a pig.

"I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds."

Oh, go design a dress and get your nails done, you stupid manslut.

I can remember when Avery was just a gadfly for the local AHL Cincinnati Mighty Ducks.

Bettman gave him six games. The Dallas Stars are going to give him a lot more grief than that, I imagine, even if it ain't formal.

I will be very surprised if Avery plays another game with the Stars. Listening to the comments of his teammates indicates that he has lost all integrity with them. I don't think this would have even caused so much stir if it weren't just the latest in a long string of bonehead decisions by him. That and the fact that it was so obviously set up.

The NHL has been relatively free of the "me me me" players, unlike what the NFL has become. Maybe we should put Sean Avery and Terrel Owens in a room by themselves and watch the ensuing "Battle Of The Egos". Put it on Pay-Per-View.

Is it just me, or is there something wrong when the Montreal Canadiens play the Florida Panthers, in Florida, and the Montreal fans outnumber the Florida fans 2-1? Maybe Florida should start marketing to the snowbirds to come see their favorite teams spank the stuffing out of the Panthers. They might fill a few more seats that way.

There is definitely something wrong with that...although I'm still trying to figure out who thought Miami was an appealing place (supportwise) for a hockey team. I love the Thrashers, but Atlanta is pushing it, Miami's just ridiculous.

I think Hockey in Florida, Arizona and Texas are just mistakes. I know geographically it makes sense but when you have four teams (two having been relocated from northern franchise) in areas that never naturally receive snow, there's a problem.

Meanwhile, I'd just like to crow about the current leader in GAA (and second in shutouts).

Now, if only the team could somehow string a couple ten or so wins together.

The time has come to drop the Islanders down the AHL and bring up
a team that actually deserves to be in the Big Leagues. The Bruins
visited the Isle last night and played in front of a listless couple grand
against a team of has-beens, never-were's and middling prospects.
The game had the feel of a practice scrimmage and Bill Guerin, who
must feel like he's in Hockey Hell managed to pop in a garbage goal
near the end but it was never really a contest, despite the 2-1 score.

I think the tell-tale camera shots of the kids in audience looking bored
and depressed sort of said it all. 4 years old and you're already smart
enough to be embarassed that your folks took you to an Islanders game.

Going to the Avs game against Edmonton tonight. I'm really hoping they put Raycroft in goal again instead of Budaj. The B-man was full of holes last night.

Cam Neely was actually absent from his usual spot in the
management box at today's Bruins game because he just
couldn't stop throwing up.

Someone go and take Kris Draper's belts and shoelaces
away from him, too, please.

There are rumors afloat that Chris Pronger is getting traded. You can no longer argue that there is no God.

Have I mentioned how much I hate Calgary. From the tippity-top of Darryl Sutter and his demented elf features to Mike Keenan behind the bench to whiny ass captain Jarome Iginla to crippling, career ending thug Todd Bertuzzi.

I just hate them all.

Well, I'm very grateful to them for taking Bertuzzi off our hands. That guy was feckin' useless, unless you count the extra penalty minutes that stupid mouth and temper of his earned.

I enjoy the Young Stars game as well. But, yeah, it's not real hockey no matter what.

There's been enough crying about fighting that you know the NHL is going to start talking about it. The unfortunate thing is that they'll probably take all the wrong steps to try to fix it.

That was pretty incredible. A new record.

I liked Ovechkin's whatchamacallit crazy goal with the hat and the two sticks and shades.

He's good for a laugh or two. Except when you're playin' him and
the Caps are chasing you for the top spot in the east and they've
beaten you twice already this year.

Which is what'll happen for the B's on Tuesday.

That's interesting because the Jacket have played the Caps twice and both times, Ovie were shut out both times they've met.

Maybe those Western Conference teams play a different game.

Oh, crap on a crutch, not another @#$%ing rule. The stupidest thing about this is that it's all being staged in the context of Sanderson's death to give the impression that the league is "doing something" about it. Everybody's hurt by that tragedy, but come on. The guy didn't die from the fight. He died from hitting his head on the ice. It's not the first time it has happened, fight or no @#$%ing fight. Leave the @#$%ing rules the @#$% alone already. Except for that instigator bullshit. That's your "negative trend" right there.

This thread has been far too quiet. I'm to blame as much as
anyone, of course. Here we are in the midst of the greatest
Bruin's season in years and I'm not even over here crowing
about it. B's have been near the top or at the top of the NHL
standings all year long and are as exciting a team to watch
as I can remember, with the talent and grit and desire that
I remember from those Cam Neely/Ray Bourque teams of
the late eighties, early nineties.

Trade deadline is coming up. Playoffs won't be far behind.
Time for us puck lovin' boys and girls to get the fever goin'.

My desire at the deadline, with Marco Sturm out for the year
and the team needing a left handed shot on the PP and some
veteran presence would be Keith Tkachuk from STL. Local
boy, tough kid, good on the PP and would fit right into that
left wing slot with playmaker supreme Marc Savard. That
and another puck moving defensemen would go a long way
toward the hopes of a long playoff run this season.

Well, with the Avs playing at or below the mediocre level, my silence is understandable I think. We need an A-list starting goalie so bad. We're muddling through with two ok backups.

FUCK

Ditto, Ken. The Jackets are firmly lodged in sixth place tonight, tied with Vancouver for now. For the first time in their existence, the CBJ may be buyers at the trade deadline instead of being sellers.

The Jackets are pretty solid on defense and Mason has been pretty good in net (notching his eighth shutout of the season). There are rumors that should they make the playoffs, Leclaire could be ready to go should Mason need a night or two off. This leaves offense which they definitely need some help with. The youth on this team are carrying the vets on their back and maybe a forward like Jokinen or Antropov or even Tkachuk might be helpful.

Well, the B's have come out of their brief funk since they've come home
from a long road trip and absolutely thumped a couple teams on Garden
ice, Florida 6-1 and Anaheim 6-0. Last night's game vs. the Ducks was a
nasty, old time hockey style brawl fest including a bout between former
teammates and still very close friends Shawn Thornton and George "The
Stache" Parros.

Only in hockey.

Gawd, what a depressing season. Nothing but losses and the Ducks just traded Kunitz to Pittsburgh. Boo. But I did hear your Big Bad Bs are trying to get Pronger. Take him. Please. We'll throw in the elbows for free.

My favorite Chris Pronger memory is in the 2002 playoffs when he tried to injure Steve Yzerman's knee and ended up tearing up his own knee instead.

If the B's pick him up I would have to root for Boston a little less. Sorry, bro. You know how hard that is for me.

I just finished watching the Anaheim-Dallas game. It's been a long time coming but someone finally took Steve Ott to the ground. Travis Moen, you're my hero for today.

Isn't Ott a total jackass? One of the funniest moments I remember from last season is when the Stars were playing the Ducks and Ott went after Bertuzzi and Todd just brushed him off like "whatever, doucheface." Does that guy even have a fucking brain? Did he honestly think Todd Bertuzzi was going to risk a fight with *anyone*?
