Quote:
More about "The Christmas Invasion" has been revealed in the latest issue of SFX Magazine by Russell T Davies. "I love the title," he tells the magazine. "What else could you call it? It will be a great, adventure that's really big in scale. It will be Christmassy – there's nothing I like more than a Christmas special set at Christmas! There's a big story in it for Rose as well as a massive threat to the Earth going on beneath the surface, so Christmas as usual!" Says the article, "With the Doctor still suffering the after-effects of his regeneration, the TARDIS returns to Earth, arriving back at Rose’s council estate. The festive period is just beginning, but the Doctor, recuperating in his pyjamas, is too ill to enjoy it, while his companion attempts to come to terms with the fact that her best friend has changed his identity. But as Rose shares some quality time with her family and friends (Camille Coduri is back as Jackie Tyler, along with Noel Clarke as Mickey), an alien force is stirring. The Sycorax invasion is beginning... So what else can we expect from the story? 'I can tell you that the words 'Arthur Dent' are said in the Christmas special,' reveals Davies, rather teasingly. 'It's got scary Christmas trees, Santa attacks, there's an invasion, and the Doctor stays in bed for a long, long time,' Billie Piper recently told the press. 'I am carrying most of the show.'"

Um, eh? Wha?

hah! sounds like fun! the doctor in bed? does that mean we´ll finally get to see more of the insides of the tardis? very good! (and a very funny concept. since i´m a newbie, have we had an ill doctor, recovering in bed and probably being an insufferable patient yet?)
wah ... will i get to celebrate christmas with this, too? probably only much, much later, since i´ll be at my parent´s with no means of doing, um, any bad things connected to the internet.
until then i hope to avoid too many spoilers.
but i´m intrigued as to the "arthur dent" bit!

In other Doctor Who news, Nicholas Briggs is to be the voice of the Cybermen for the new series. He currently voices the Daleks & the Cybermen for the Big Finish audio's & played the Dalek in the TV episode "Dalek" and provided Dalek voices again in "The Parting of the Ways"

Yes. Both Jon Pertwee's and Tom Baker's Doctors became patients after their regenerations.

The Doctor never sleeps. Apparently.

Some companions have had their own room in the TARDIS, though.

I'm sure he sleeps sometimes but it just seems like he never does.

Although, he has been rendered unconcious. :)

Also on BBC7 on Dec 10th, a three hour Dr Who special.

Doctor Who Special (Documentary)
The good Doctor made a comeback to TV in 2005. BBC7 does some archive time-travelling to find out about his off-screen activity.

You can hear this at 09.00, 20.00 & 03.00 or Listen Again via BBC7's home page.

i´m just listening to "the chimes of midnight"! it´s excellent, very creepy, especially the solution. (again, i can´t believe this is meant to eb a children´s programme!) i had to stop listening to the last episode minutes before the end (because that´s when i arrived at work), and i can´t wait to see if or more specifically how the doctor will save the day! i like the way how charley´s paradox is something of the read thread of the stories. i wonder where it´ll lead ...

£45 on Amazon

It could be compensation for not having seen it broadcast, and most Whovians will probably have the whole series via BitTorrent anyway

i read it, of course. sounds NEAT!
gonz, i´m not sure if that link (which is also v. cool - don´t you feel that the bbc guys are really clever at making the most of the internet´s possibilities to boost the new doctor who series?) is related to TCI (no mentioning of mars), but maybe it´s a set-up for an upcoming episode of the news season...?

EDIT: okay, i take everything back after having read "prime minister jones´" adress - she´s talking about christmas ... i guess something has to lure those bad aliens to earth!

Who is Doctor Who?

The way the producers incorporated & updated this site throughout the first series was amazing. Let's hope it continues into the second.

A friend of mine (an electrician in his early 40s) recently worked on Dr Who. He was give the job of running a power feed to the Tardis which was postitioned on the end of a pier. When he reached the Tardis it was with quite a lot of trepidation that he opened the door, knowing that a lifetime of elusion was about to be shattered!

Ah, yes, I would find it very hard to work on Doctor Who. It'd be like working for Father Christmas and discovering he doesn't really make all the toys himself.

Because he does, you know?

Of course Father Christmas exists. Didn't you follow in the yellow press his affair with Mother Nature?

Tennant "here to stay" as the Doctor

Digital Spy wrote:
New Time Lord David Tennant has insisted he won't be following in the footsteps of Christopher Eccleston and quitting after one series.

The Casanova star, who takes the TARDIS for a spin for the first time on Christmas Day, told tonight's Jonathan Ross Show: "It's a bit of a gamble. The danger is that you get stuck with it, but the other option is you don't do it. I didn't want to be that guy. As long as I don't get the sack, I'll do another series."

Meanwhile, Tennant admitted apprehension over the audience's reaction to his Doctor. "It's almost too exciting, all a bit daunting. It was the most successful TV show of the year; if it all goes wrong it's my fault."

Just judging from what I've seen in the CiN special, I don't think Tennant should worry. Barring RTD overextending himself with trying to oversee both Torchwood and Who, I just don't see the series losing the momentum is has.

Gads... can't wait to see the Christmas Invasion.

Leave it to Who to come up with a better visualization of Hitchhiker's than Hammer & Tongs

You didn't like the visualisation (dash all stupid words!) of Hammer&Tongs or was that just a throwaway joke?
