That's very old news in Dr. Who fan circles. Are you aware of the big name guest stars too?

Twitter snippets from my mate at the Who panel at comic con of Tennant and co that made me smile...

Quote:
"One of Ten's jackets disappeared on last day. They're checking eBay."

"John Barrowman just stole things off the set so he could be strip searched on the way out"

"Torchwood - tripled ratings. It will be back, but maybe not the ones you want to be back."

"Read through Christmas episode first, then School Reunion. Hearing being called "The Doctor" by SJS, voice from childhood."

"Tennant did a couple audio stories with Nicholas Courtney. Is a huge fan of his.

Well. that was RTD's remark, so god only knows.

I suspect It's because Ianto won't be back, (of course) and It'll probably be Gwen and co which plus new characters, which won't be that popular with the 'hard core' fans it seems. In fact during the Torchwood panel Davies was booed when he mentioned Ianto.

He didn't seem to be in the trailer for the finale (or if he is I'm just blind) but in addition to the loveliness of the Master (in a hoodie no less) and Donna and Wilf and Lucy Saxon, Timothy Dalton is also supposed to be appearing in "The End of Time" as a Time Lord.

cos2mwiz has great videos of the complete Doctor Who and Torchwood panels with David Tennant, John Barrowman, Russell T Davies, Euros Lyn and the incomparable Julie Gardner. Well worth your time!

I could compare her to a few things. Nothing favourable. I've heard some truly awful things about her unfortunate manner in meetings and negotiations.

I don't really know why, but she always gets on my nerves when she appears on telly, taking too miuch of the credit for the success of Dr.Who. It was a terrific show for many years before she came along and will be around for years after she has gone.

You didn't get heads of BBC drama sucking up all the kudos back in the good old days. It's all down to the rise of executive producer culture.

There. I've said it. Feel better for that.

i wouldn´t know either way. but i have to say, i sure wish we had some of those executive producers over here in germany if it means gettign great shows, our telly being disgraceful and utterly boring as it is.

I don't know Julie Gardner personally, so I can't comment on her manners in meetings. She's obviously a tough negotiator, otherwise the production wouldn't be so huge. I've never heard her taking credit for the revival of Doctor Who. The experiences I've had was with the documentaries and the audio commentaries. And on those I find her absolutely adorable. But that's to the individual taste. My post was rather about the great panels at Comic Con which fans shouldn't miss. Tennant and Barrowman are in true form!

I heard he was voice in the beginning of the trailer.

I'm pleased the Master will be back, John Simm is awesome. I've been watching all the Comic Con footage, almost makes up for not having been able to go (even though it's not that far from me).

Timothy Dalton is 'The Narrator' -- very mysterious, but prolly a timelord given the costume. The biggest news about John's return as the master is that he has a beard and goatee. The trailer looked epic cool on the big screen, David made them play it twice. All the guests were on good form, even if the host liked the sound of his own voice too much. I went up to aske a question (do any of you guys read 'the 10 doctors?) but there were too many people ahead of me. DT nearly took his shirt off because of one person's request, but chickened out at the last minute. Everybody shouted 'tease!'. There was some continuity based question, I shouted out 'Timey Wimey' but I don't think everybody heard.

Coolest thing was everybody waiting in line in costume, about a dozen tenth doctors, (including one doppelganger whom I thought WAS David Tennant.) and one 11th Doctor. 12 year old girl dressed up as the Tardis was really cute, and lots of Dalek Bump Dresses.

They also gave us free doctor who comic books, I snagged 3 or 4 different issues. Watch the lo rez youtube taping if you can tolerate it, next best thing.

Especially if Barrowman does end up on a certain ABC series.

I think Torchwood worked better as a mini-series than as a 13-week series. If it were to come back, I think it'd be in a form like Children of Earth.

what do you mean? a new series for him? i don´t think torchwood would work at all without captain jack, seeing as he was the reason the series was created in the first place...

He's apparently our next desperate housewife...

Which could turn out okay, it might influence the hypothetical next series of Torchwood, if it includes Jack, to be another short series since he'll be busy over here for a time.

There's no way they could have Torchwood without Captain Jack, that would be a travesty! I wouldn't even watch it. I mean, it's bad enough that they keep getting rid of all the supporting characters. (I totally understand that sometimes a character death is necessary for a story, but when you get people attached to them and then kill a bunch of them off quite quickly without introducing new characters, people are bound to get a bit annoyed...)

Well for what It's worth RDT was quoted recently in an interview saying that any new series would have to have Jack in it, and that he couldn't think of doing another without having him on board first.

JB has also said he's quite happy to go on doing more TW's. Saying that I could see a series of TW having Jack as a reoccurring character rather then in every single episode If push comes to shove.
