I have not seen a copy of Stephen Hawking's new book yet, but the CNN website says:

His book -- as the title suggests -- is an attempt to answer "the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything," he writes, quoting Douglas Adams' cult science fiction romp, "The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy."

Looking at the cover there is a reference to "New Answers to the Ultimate Questions of Life"

Yeah, I saw that. The quote is good, and the debate among alledgedly knowledgeable scholars within the realm of the university world is amazing. To think that there exist people who actually believe in the concept 'god' is really interesting. I suppose there is some need which must be fed by odd ideas to avoid running berzerk scaring the wits out of those persons. That some children believe in the guy in red who gives them stuff, it's about the same I suppose. The main difference is perhaps that kids aged 7 don't run scholarly departments at renowned universities...
Exterminate or coffee...

Is Hitchhiker's really a "romp"? I always considered it more of a frolic.
