Stephen Mangan (playing Dirk) is tweeting about various things including the TV pilot. He posted a picture of a car he is driving today: http://yfrog.com/mm19345814j
That is why Dirk practices Zen navigation!

Yesss! Stephen Mangan is great! I would never have thought of him, but I love the idea. Green Wing is one of my top favorite comedies ever. So mad.

And Jason Watkins was great as Herrick.

Damon Thomas, the director of Dirk Gently, has another show coming soon. The First Men in the Moon by Jules Verne has been adapted by, and stars, Mark Gatiss. It is on BBC4 on Tuesday 19th October at 9pm, and repeated a couple of times after that.

Dirk Gently filming in Bristol finished on Saturday. A very provisional broadcast date of December 11th has been mentioned but could change.
The Damon Thomas directed Mark Gatiss adaptation of First Men in the Moon is being broadcast tomorrow. See a preview at

Mangan doesn't look that very far off from Jerry Seinfeld

Various TV listing websites were saying the first broadcast would be Thursday 16th December at 21:00, and I have just had that confirmed by BBC publicity. Unfortunately I will not see it live as I will be dining at a Cambridge College that evening.

Is there any hope for people in the US ever being able to see this content? The BBC is so restrictive (protective?) of their programming, I'd love to see them find a way to allow people outside the UK to see their shows.

Or maybe they already have? If anyone knew the answer to that question it would surely be...you!

I caught the trailer for it on BBC4 this evening.

I have to say it looked darn good, and should attract more than just your dedicated DNA fans.

Two weeks to go!!

Smilies and BBCode are on board-wide, but some individual posts have 'Disable BBCode' and 'Disable smilies' checked. I'm unsure if or why this would come up as a default setting, but you can change it in the options portion of a post or change your own default by going to User Control Panel - Board Preferences - Edit Posting Defaults

Looking very shiny. It's going to be even more so on BBC HD, where it'll air simultaneously to BBC4!

The interconnectedness of all things - before Dirk Gently on BBC4 there is an edition of a documentary presented by Marcus du Satoy who is a former Douglas Adams Memorial Lecturer. The series is called The Beauty of Diagrams and the topic is DNA.

The BBC is working on a worldwide iPlayer with Ads, but it's still about securing the rights to show stuff internationally.

Went into London last night to the regular ZZ9 pub meet last night and met the producer, Chris, the director, Damon and the star, Stephen. Nice guys who are all Adams fans and are really hoping we like their Dirk Gently. Looking forward to seeing it.

There is a spoiler thread for discussion the show, but here is the overnight ratings infrormation. There are a few repeats and the timeshifters so the weekly ratings should go up from this.

Dirk Gently 744,200 (3%) source: http://attentional.com/attentional_blog/blogs/
which says it performed well for the channel and timeslot.
