Apparently contains cameo appearances from the members of Rush...

Yessir. Rudd and Segel's love of Rush helps bring them together as friends and results in a few very funny air guitar scenes.

I watched Alien vs Predator: Reqiuem a few hours a ago. Good god. Awful movie. Film critic Mark Olsen, via Rotten Tomattoes, summed it up pretty well:
Mark Olsen of the LA Times wrote:
The action is rendered with such disconcertingly low light levels -- and of course there is heavy rain for the climatic sequences -- that it can be a strain to simply see what is occurring on-screen. Then again, maybe that's for the best

The movie was so dark and murky, I actually got a headache trying to watch it. Seriously. And it wasn't just the lighting (or lack thereof). Everything else sucked, too.

It's a terrible film but I enjoyed it, still. It was so bad that it was funny.

Saw two disappointingly average Paul Rudd films - I Love You, Man and Role Models.

Really? Enjoyed Role Models immensely! To each his own, I suppose.

I really enjoyed Role Models. Paul Rudd's character reminded me of characters Bill Murray usually play.

I just finished watching Pineapple Express. It's absolutely ridiculous, but I couldn't help but love it.

I love Pineapple Express, too. Bill Hader's bit at the beginning is hilarious.

I went t o see Adventureland the other day. Its a good flick. However, the ads for it are a bit misleading. Its not nearly as "wacky" as they make it out to be, which is good. Its not so much an out-and-out comedy, as a sweet romance with comedy happening in the midst of it. If that makes any sense.
I also rented Wanted, which was much better than I expected, and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, which I also really enjoyed. I love the running gag about destroying all the sinks! And Tim Meadows has one of the funniest lines ("You don't want any part a this sh*t!").

Did Alan Arkin win any awards for that? I think he was nominated for some. He deserves something for that role! Brilliant performance.

Role Models. Made me laugh so much when I saw it at the cinema a few months back, that I bought it as soon as it came out on DVD. Such a hilarious film. Watched it both last night and the night before that!

DR Zhivago is great, how about Sophie Scholl? I thought it was a bit weak as a movie, but also think it should be essential viewing.

Harold and Maude. I haven't seen it in ages and it's still a great film in every way.

Extremely funny in a crude sort of way-- I totally lost it when RDJ earnestly started quoting The Jeffersons.

Good for you! So your's called Hannibal, eh? You could tattoo your pink torpedo with that name, then it would read Hal before rising!

I went to see Terminator Salvation last weekend, at the insistence of a good friend of mine, who is a Terminator fanatic. He's nearly as obsessed with Terminator as we are with Douglas Adams.

Bottom line: I didn't like it. I have seen each the previous films once and didn't see anything particularly special about them. Perhaps if I'd remembered more plot stuff from the original films, I might not have been as lost as I was. The film makes absolutely no attempt to help those of us who haven't seen or don't remember the original films. (Unlike, say, Star Trek) If this applies to you, then don't see this new one because you will be totally lost, plot-wise. The story really doesn't make any sense. There's all sorts of time travel which has happened or is about to happen. Oddly enough, some bits actually reminded me of various Doctor Who/Cybermen stories!

The two postives: 1. The special effects are very good. 2. Moon Bloodgood is super, smokin' hot. Hubba, hubba! She's make a great Wonder Woman, incidentally.

"vicky christina barcelona". man, was i underwhelmed. woody allen should get back to the states. he makes movies about europe like an american tourist. it was still alright when he was filming in great britain, but this flick was like you took all the clichés about spain/barcelona and put them unfiltered on screen. plus, the constant voice-over was getting on my nerves and i thought it was just there to compensate for sloppy writing.
we had a little discussion whther any of this was secretly ironic or so, but we couldn´t detect any hint for it. so, one of the most overrated films i´ve seen this year.

i´m sure they will, they look fabulous. and i´m also sure i don´t spoil anything by telling you that scarlett and penelope share a (very tame) kiss. that´s another thing that bugged me, the whole film was to be about this sensual love triangle/quadrangle/whatever, but the love scenes are so few and tamely shot, you´d think they were aiming at a six-year-old audience. no nudity at all, and no touching potentially naughty parts.

I think I'll watch it anyway. Penelope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson and Rebecca Hall might help get me through it...

i´m sure they will, they look fabulous. and i´m also sure i don´t spoil anything by telling you that scarlett and penelope share a (very tame) kiss. that´s another thing that bugged me, the whole film was to be about this sensual love triangle/quadrangle/whatever, but the love scenes are so few and tamely shot, you´d think they were aiming at a six-year-old audience. no nudity at all, and no touching potentially naughty parts.

You can take something for that...apparently.

Just back from the cinema where I saw Terminator: Salvation. Over-the-top, predictable and Poochied-up Terminators. To quote Kevin Smith [on Batman & Robin]; "Better with camp Batman than no Batman." I think the purpose of this film was to set up the characters we'll be spending time with in the next two Terminator flicks.

I went to the drive-in theater yesterday and saw Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. It was ok.

"Bang Boom Bang" (on dvd), a german crime comedy. hilarious, both down-to-earth and over the top, with a host of crazy and original characters.

40-year-old Virgin, followed by Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Both very enjoyable.
