Has the Forum's resident professional wrestling fanatic intrigued. Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler has been making rounds at film festivals for a while and has been getting mostly glowing reviews. It is the story of a retired professional wrestler who is coaxed into getting back into the ring to face his old nemesis from the 80s. Now when I had first heard this, it sounded like another of these awful wrestling movies which falsely portray the "sport" as a real contest and thus ruin the film and the aforementioned plot description suggested that it did this. However, for the first time in my life, I'm actually anxious to see a wrestling movie since not only is the buzz great, Mickey Rourke is already being discussed for an Oscar nomination.
I'm curious to see this and I can't believe I'm saying this.
